The Partners

Each of the partners has considerable experience in the liability claims market having a combined total of 90 years experience. Our non executive chairman, Mr David Johnson was formerly the Managing Director of Garwyn Ltd, (the UK’s largest liability adjuster).

Alun Gwatkin - Managing Partner (Mold)

Alun is the Managing Partner for the firm. Prior to being one of the founder partners of Phoenix, Alun was a senior claims inspector with the Prudential Insurance Company before becoming a manager for Garwyn Liability Adjusters. Alun is very experienced in all fields of liability claims handling in particular local authority, utility company disease claims and complex personal injury claims.

Clive Davies – Partner (Bicester)

Clive started life as a claims inspector with the Iron Trades before joining Beachams loss adjusters from where he moved to Garwyn. Clive is very experienced in all aspects of liability claims handling including construction risks as well as sport and leisure related claims.

Colin Scales – Partner (St.Neots)

Colin started out with the Iron Trades before joining McLarens from where he moved to Garwyn. Colin is very experienced in all aspects of claims handling and in particular with the investigating and handling of retail and food production related claims.

David Sumner – Partner (Mold)

David has been handling liability claims since 1990 when he joined the Iron Trades Insurance Company. From there he joined Ricksons Solicitors to head up their Investigation Division before joining Garwyn. Dave has an excellent understanding of food production claims, docks related claims and is well versed in the Northern Irish claims system.

Paul Titterington – Partner (Leeds)

Paul started his claims handling career with the Eagle Star from where he moved to Garwyn at their Mold office before moving across to Manchester. Paul is very experienced in all aspects of liability claims handling especially from manufacturing and engineering risks. Paul is the partner responsible for compliance.
